This post is within the School of Engineering and Materials Science, a large School with approximately 70 academic staff and 45 postdoctoral research staff. There are around 1000 undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and 220 PhD students. Circa 40 administrative and technical staff support the staff and students. The staff and student body are international in make-up.

About the role

The school of Engineering and Materials Science at Queen Mary University of London has a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant.

The purpose of the role is to conduct research on the fabrication, testing and advanced characterisation of solution processed solar cells, and contribute to the overall research performance of the School and University, carrying out research leading to the publishing of work in high-quality journals and successful funding applications. To pursue excellence in research and to inspire others to do the same.

Candidates must have, or about to be awarded, a PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering or related areas, or have equivalent experience/qualifications. They are also required to have an established expertise and proven portfolio of research and/or relevant industrial experience within the area of Energy materials and their applications. The post is a full-time, fixed term appointment initially for 24 months and is available from October 2019. Starting salary will be £31,054 to £37,411 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
