About the position
We have a vacancy for a Postdoc at the center of Excellence QuSpin (Center for Quantum Spintronics) which is a part of the Department of Physics, NTNU in Trondheim, Norway. The Center of Excellence QuSpin is funded by the Research Council of Norway. QuSpin carries out research in theoretical as well as experimental fields.
The candidate will develop theoretical models related to transport of spin and other degrees of freedom in magnetic insulators, topological insulators, and superconductors.
The candidate will join and become part of an excellent international research environment in quantum condensed matter theory and experiments.

Main duties and responsibilities
The candidate for this position will develop theoretical models related to transport and dynamics of spin and other degrees of freedom in low- dimensional magnetic insulators, topological insulators, and superconductors.
A postdoctoral research fellowships is a qualification position in which the main objective is qualification for work in academic positions. Completion of a PhD degree in theoretical condensed-matter physics.
We give preference to candidates with a documented background in quantum transport, quantum field theory, and/or many-body theory, with some experiences in numerical calculations.
The successful candidate should be creative, independent, and have a strong ability to work problem oriented.
The appointment is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants and national.

Salary and conditions
Postdoctoral candidates are remunerated in code 1352, and are normally remunerated at gross from NOK 515 200 before tax per year. From the salary, 2 % is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
The period of employment is 2 years. The position is partially funded by the ERC AdG “Insulatronics” and the associated “insentivmidler” granted by NTNU.
The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criterias in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU. After the appointment you must assume that there may be changes in the area of work.
