Job Details

The Department of Mathematics, Physics and Electrical Engineering at Northumbria University has key strengths in advanced energy materials and renewable energy systems. This is evidenced by the recent award of an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Renewable Energy Northeast Universities (ReNU). To further strengthen and consolidate our research profile within the scope of ReNU, we are currently seeking to appoint two Vice Chancellor’s Fellows or Senior Vice Chancellor's Fellows. The post will be for three years in the first instance with the expectation of transfer to a permanent academic position at the end of the Fellowship, subject to satisfactory progress. We are particularly interested in high quality applications from candidates who align with the scope of ReNU including: advanced materials for photovoltaics, batteries, fuel cells, hydrogen, photo/electrocatalysis, energy harvesting and whole energy systems. Applications are welcomed from candidates with experimental and/or theoretical track records of excellence. These positions will directly support and contribute to the successful delivery of ReNU and will further establish Northumbria University as a world-leading institution for advanced energy materials and systems research. Candidates will have the opportunity to demonstrate extensive knowledge and subject expertise through individual and collaborative academic activities including teaching that aligns with the physics and/or electrical engineering disciplines. Successful candidates will be selected according to the excellence of their research profile, fit to ReNU and quality of a two-page research proposal in their application. Applications should clearly demonstrate the proposed contribution to ReNU.
