RESEARCH SPECIALISTLiterature Section, to serve as the project manager, educational resource, and digital humanities specialist on “The Merchant of Venice” project led by Professor Diana Henderson. These efforts will result in the online publication of an open access MITx version of the ’Merchant Module’, with ongoing administration and improvements to it and its educational uses. Responsibilities include developing and overseeing “Merchant” project timetables, focusing on the MITx module’s spring 2020 move from the Edge site to a MOOC; coordinating and assisting with editing video footage in related projects; aiding outreach and serving as liaison for this and affiliated projects, including a documentary release; overseeing enrollment and effective participation in the module by all earners and helping assess the MOOC’s release; researching and providing timely information about overlapping Shakespeare-related educational projects, building effective links/collaborations where possible; providing ideas regarding the development of learning exercises and assessments; gathering and documenting student responses and achievements; helping assess use of particular module features by targeted groups; overseeing the day-to-day running of the MITx module and making local edits/improvements; coordinating with Open Learning and Global Shakespeare staff to make various tools as interoperable and user-friendly as possible; suggesting and implementing new features with an eye to sustainability and ease of future use; and helping develop a sustainable model for archiving raw material. 

Job Requirements

 REQUIRED bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred); ability to manage project timelines and meet deliverables; experience in digital humanities; and coursework in at least one of the following--literary studies, poetry, early modern studies, theater, film, and/or digital humanities. Knowledge of Shakespeare’s works and online learning modules strongly preferred. Job #17737
