The Department of Anthropology invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in sociocultural anthropology, to begin September 1, 2020. The deadline for applications is October 4, 2019.

We seek ethnographically grounded and theoretically engaged scholars whose research and teaching promise to expand our current range of inquiry. Preference is for topical specializations complementing and extending the department's existing emphases (e.g., Science and Technology, Language and Discourse, Human Rights, Social Movements, Cities and Infrastructures, Environment and Culture, Media Worlds, Religion and Ritual, Politics and Economics).

Applicants should send a cover letter summarizing their teaching and research experience, and research goals for the next three to five years.

Application dossiers should also include a full cv, names and contact information for four references, a writing sample (e.g. published or submitted article), one-page research statement, one-page teaching practice statement, teaching evaluations (in any official format), and syllabi for two courses in sociocultural anthropology (one basic, one more advanced). Application dossiers should be submitted online at https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/12581. PhD must be in hand by September 27, 2019 or, if ABD, letter confirming defense date by January 15, 2020.

This position is subject to the University's background check policy.

The Department values diversity among its faculty, is committed to building a culturally diverse intellectual community, and strongly encourages applications from women and members of underrepresented groups.
