You will be primarily responsible for leading and developing research in critical minerals exploration; particularly those elements that are crucial to transformation to a renewable energy future. You will have a strong academic record with expertise in understanding the mineral systems containing technologically critical metals. It is proposed to establish a South Australian Centre for Critical Minerals in partnership with the SA Museum, which is an exciting development between the two institutions. The academic position will be pivotal in providing leadership of the new Centre and will enable access to the Museum and its mineral collection.

You will also take a lead role in the development and teaching of courses and programs in this area, and supervise research students.

To be successful you will need:

• A record of distinction and professional standing in the field of critical minerals.
• An outstanding track record of research with evidence of publications in highly ranked journals.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong international collaborations with academic, government and industry partners.
• Demonstrated ability to attract funds from competitive grants and other sources to support research.
• Demonstrated ability to provide high quality academic leadership.
• Leadership and management experience in an appropriate tertiary education environment.
• A record of outstanding achievement in teaching and course development, and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The School of Physical Sciences is part of the Faculty and brings together the Departments of Chemistry, Earth Sciences, and Physics. The appointment will be made in the Department of Earth Sciences, which consistently produces world class research in geology, geochemistry and geophysics.
