The Faculty of Medicine promotes scientific research of a high standard and is responsible for providing research-based undergraduate and postgraduate education in medicine, dentistry, psychology and logopedics, as well as for the English-language Master’s Programme in Translational Medicine. Research Programs Unit (RPU) of the Faculty of Medicine consolidates demonstrated research excellence, with focused research programs addressing the greatest challenges in human health. International Scientific Advisory Board selects the research programs of RPU through a competitive application procedure every six years. Research programs provide the critical mass to combine biomedical, translational and clinical research with dynamic use of space, equipment and resources. Thus, they form a synergistic platform for top-class scientific and translational discoveries.

Academy Professor Anu Wartiovaara’s group is looking for a
LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

The main task would be using cycling enzymatic reaction with colorimetric detection to measure metabolites from fresh/frozen blood samples received from Finnish Biobanks and other sources. The technician will also have an opportunity to use other methods, e.g. PCR and cell culture.

The ideal candidate will have experience with proteomics, biochemistry and molecular biology, and has a training of a laboratory technician. A good knowledge of English is required, as the working language in the group is English.

The salary is based on level 5–6 of the job requirement scheme for other personnel in the salary system of the University of Helsinki. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance. The position is offered for one year with a six-month trial period.
