Cranfield School of Management has been educating business leaders for over fifty years. We are a Financial Times top 40 school, triple accredited by EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB, ranked 7th in the UK and 17th in Europe. Our MBA was ranked 7th in the world for one-year programmes by Times Higher Education / Wall Street Journal.

The School’s research and teaching has always had a strong managerial inspiration and relevance. Our faculty enjoy working closely with managers in organisations across a range of sectors via our specialist Masters programmes, open and tailored executive courses, best-practice clubs and research. We offer post graduate degrees as well as teach post experience learners.

Cranfield has a long heritage of thought leadership in sustainability and corporate responsibility, including ten years in which this work was coordinated by the Doughty Centre for Corporate Responsibility directed by Emeritus Professor David Grayson CBE, who remains an active member of the school’s sustainability community. The School’s Sustainability Group is now positioning itself to grow and build on this valuable legacy. The Group serves as a hub from which modular sustainability-related content is created for use within the School of Management and across the university, and a focal point for collaboration between other School of Management Groups and the rest of the University on topics relating to sustainability.

As demand for expertise in integrating sustainability into business practice increases from industry, government and students, the School of Management is investing in building capacity in this critical area. We are looking to appoint an individual with a vision for how businesses can, and should, respond to the urgent social and environmental challenges facing society, the ability to communicate that vision, lead change and make things happen quickly, and a determination to succeed which is grounded in a personal purpose aligned to this role. We are open to appointing across a range of job levels depending on where the successful candidate is on their academic journey.

Our friendly faculty group balances teaching with rigorous and relevant research, and working in a close-to-practice academic, postgraduate environment. We are seeking a colleague who is genuinely motivated by the opportunity to achieve better outcomes for society and our natural world by influencing and changing ‘the business of business.’ You should therefore also be enthusiastic about engaging with senior managers, and preferably have some expertise in executive education.

For an informal discussion, please contact Rosina Watson, Senior Lecturer in Sustainability on (T) +44 (0)1234 75 8127 or (E); rosina.watson@cranfield.ac.uk.

At Cranfield, we value Diversity and Inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential. We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking, and commit to exploring the possibilities for each role.

First round of interviews will be held on  8 November 2019

Company

Cranfield is world-leading in its contribution to global innovation. With our emphasis on the aerospace, agrifood, defence and security, environmental technology, leadership and management, manufacturing and transport systems sectors, we have changed the way society thinks, works and learns.

We generate and transform knowledge, translating it to the benefit of society. Our partners, from micro SMEs to the largest blue-chip multinationals, from governments across the world to NGOs and charities, tell us this is what they value about Cranfield.

Innovation is part of Cranfield’s ‘corporate DNA’, evolved over 60 years of commitment to this agenda.

Our work informs policy for governments and produces new technologies and products for the world of commerce. We draw on this pool of research and consultancy to provide our students with a distinctive ‘real-world’ learning environment, allowing them to develop as professionals and transfer their new knowledge to the global economy. This has always been the ‘Cranfield way’ but it has never been more important than in today’s world.

People are key to our competitive advantage and so we need to attract, develop and retain the best talent for our business. We aim to create a culture where you can flourish and succeed and, in turn, contribute towards Cranfield’s success.
