Opportunities for future research leaders. The University of Bristol is embarking on bold plans and we’re looking for researchers who share our ambition. Our Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowships scheme offers an exciting opportunity for exceptional early-career researchers to advance their research careers and support our strategic priorities. We’re looking for candidates who are ready to seize the opportunity to become future leaders in their field.

This year we are offering a four-year fellowship focused in Cardiovascular Science (reference ACAD104036).

In this particular call we are seeking a VC Fellow to work as part of the research team delivering an Accelerator Award from the British Heart Foundation. The aim of this award is to provide substantial funding to nurture multidisciplinary collaborative research in two areas that the BHF have identified as areas of scientific excellence at the University of Bristol. As well as fitting into the broad remit for VC Fellows, the successful applicant will conduct research in the area of developmental origins of cardiovascular disease/cardiometabolic health and/or identifying targets for interventions (lifestyle or pharmaceutical) aimed at preventing or treating cardiovascular diseases. They will need to demonstrate ability to adopt a population health science approach to these issues, using causal inference methods such as Mendelian randomization and working in a multidisciplinary environment. They should have expertise in one or more of the following specialist areas: epidemiology, biostatistics, informatics, mathematics or computer science.

REF 2014 ranked Bristol among the UK’s top research universities and we are committed to developing our research staff. As a Vice-Chancellor’s Fellow, you will have access to our cutting-edge facilities and become part of our outstanding academic community receiving a range of benefits including:

  • A competitive salary and start-up funding.
  • Expert supervision and mentoring.
  • Personal and career development support.
  • Support to increase the impact of your research.
  • The opportunity to lead and direct your own research programme.

If you are interested in joining the next generation of research leaders, we want to hear from you.

Informal enquiries can be made to vc-fellowships@bristol.ac.uk

Closing date for all applications is midnight on Monday 1st July 2019.

Interviews are likely to be held on 19th July.
