Job description

We are looking for a talented Public Engagement Manager to join us to identify and engage with a wide range of external stakeholders in order to manage public engagement and impact generation of research activities from within the Centre for Fluid and Complex Systems (FCS).

Coventry University's'Excellence with Impact' research strategy is currently taking the University forward to 2021 by enhancing research excellence and its impact, building on strengths as a business and community facing institution. The Centre for Fluid and Complex Systems was established to build on there putation and excellence of the University's research in mathematical sciences and related interdisciplinary areas. The Centre conducts fundamental, applied and interdisciplinary research that impacts upon industry, society, public policy and other areas beyond academia, creating better futures, societies and providing the framework for excellence in education.

This new Public Engagement Manager role provides an excellent and exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced and motivated person to manage public engagement and impact generation by FCS for the Unit of Assessment in Mathematical Sciences (UoA10) in the next Research Excellence Framework(REF2021) and to plan for the following one.

The post-holder will take a proactive, creative, challenging, questioning, and facilitative approach to developing public engagement and impact with academic staff within the UoA10 - Mathematical Sciences - and in liaison with administrativestaff throughout the University. The Public Engagement Manager will workclosely with external bodies, e.g. other universities, and will help develop industrial partnerships for impact generation.

The post-holder will be expected to be able to understand and subsequently articulate technical research concepts to a range of audiences, including non-specialists, to develop their understanding of, and interaction with,research for the benefit of wider society.
