The College of the North Atlantic - Qatar is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Library Services Manager in the Library Services Department. Reporting to the Associate Vice President Student Affairs, must be a proven leader with the skills and expertise necessary to support the Library Services Department in fully implementing the College’s mission and vision.

Duties & Responsibilities:     

This position requires an energetic and enthusiastic individual who will lead, manage, and develop professional customer-focused robust library services to ensure that the needs and objectives of the College (students, instructors, staff, and researchers and all schools) are met through the efficient and effective delivery of information related services.

Candidates should have an outstanding record of industry experience in Library Services or related field, and possess the qualifications necessary to be successful in the role of Library Services Manager. The successful candidate will contribute to the formulation of CNA-Q’s strategy and lead the development and implementation of the Library Service’s business plan and provide input to Academic Council on the information resources that should be included in the curriculum.

Candidates will lead the positioning of the library, learning commons and archives and collaborate with internal Schools and Departments to develop curriculum, deliver quality information and promote digital literacy and participate in program accreditation. Candidates should also Coordinate with Software Development department to select information management software and systems, overseeing implementation.

The Library Services Manager will guide the Library Services employees to obtain up-to-date knowledge of standards and regulations, cataloging, metadata, copyright, licensing, privacy and access and keeping up-to-date with current issues in academic librarianship and information management. Candidates will be responsible to coordinate with the Procurement department to negotiate pricing and licenses for information resources as required.

Candidate will be responsible to integrate critical thinking, lifelong learning, and student success into the curriculum, classroom, and the strategies of the department. Oversee efficient bookstore operations including purchasing, processing, inventory, sales, and merchandising.

The Library Services Manager will also provide professional development support and perform periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates to contribute to the development of employees and must have excellent organizational, leadership, decision-making, delegation and communications skills as well as the ability to act as a mentor to team members. Candidates will manage risks associated with information and records management, assets and facilities, privacy, copyright, student services, and collection to minimize interruptions in service provision.

Qualifications  

Education and Certifications:

Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science, ALA-accredited or equivalent program

 Experience:

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Library Services or related field

2 years of managerial experience

Language:

Fluency in written and spoken English language

Other Required Skills:

Strong leadership skills with a desire to achieve organizational success and to lead by example is required.  A proactive can-do attitude to work and good time management is essential. The candidate should have the ability to anticipate change and effectively manage quality and risk at all times. Effective decision-making and resource management is required. Commitment to positive relationship building and effective working relationships across all levels of the organizations is required. knowledge of Library and Information Science is required and knowledge of Legislation and regulation is desirable. A Commitment to ongoing training and continuous professional development is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate explanatory communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in English language is required, Arabic language is an asset.
