Job description

The School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy & Politics at Queen's University Belfast is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Medieval History from 1st September 2019 for a period of 18 months. 

The successful candidate will have a track record of research and publications of the highest international standards and will enhance the research culture within the School. They will contribute to the development of the School's undergraduate, Masters, and PhD programmes in medieval history.

We welcome applications from applicants with research specialisms in any aspect of medieval history. Applicants will be required to teach survey courses in medieval European history, as well as modules related to their own research field. The successful applicant is also expected to play a leading role in the development of our MA in History and in the Medieval Cultures research forum and seminars.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate an ability to develop the undergraduate and MA curriculum in attractive and innovative fashion. Candidates may wish to indicate how their research and teaching will broaden or enhance our current areas of strength in pre-modern history, which include cultural and social history, intellectual and religious history, gender history and urban history.
