Our learning environment supports a special mix of scholarship, academic research and high-level practice; facilities include three professional recording studios, with consoles by Sony, SSL and AMS/Neve, five edit rooms with Apple Mac Pros, Avid Pro Tools and Apple Logic software and two vans for location recording with a vast array of microphones. Other facilities in the department include a 4 camera TV studio with a Sony MVS8000G vision mixer, well-equipped edit suites; location facilities include lighting by ARRI and a Sony F55 camera, Mac and PC labs and a cutting edge optical motion capture system. You will work with excellent colleagues, students and partners to provide technical support for a range of audio and video teaching, recordings, production and research. We seek a self-motivated technician to support the University of Surrey's recording and location filming facilities and our degrees in Music and Sound recording (Tonmeister) and Film and Video Production Technology.  

The role will involve: Providing first-line technical support for students and staff; specifying new equipment and installations based on the requirements of the programmes; the construction, wiring, and installation of new equipment and technical areas; fault finding and maintenance service to component level for the full range of audio, video, and related equipment used by the programmes; preparing for and assisting in laboratory and practical sessions for students, and organising orders and contractors. The successful candidate will have experience in the repair and maintenance of professional audio and video equipment of the highest standard.
