The School of Design and the Built Environment

Courses offered by the School of Design and the Built Environment appeal to creative people with an interest in creating designs that impact our everyday lives, from an interior lighting scheme to an entire city, a catwalk fashion collection or an animated game. Your new role

The role requires you to apply your expertise in Interior Architecture towards meeting the School of Design and the Built Environment’s scholarship goals.

As an experienced practitioner / academic, you will make significant contributions to learning and teaching within the Bachelor of Applied Science in Interior Architecture program. In particular, your responsibilities will include working collaboratively within the discipline team to build and deliver high quality and innovative learning experiences and teaching delivery, curriculum development and unit coordination in the following areas:

  • Discipline specific professional practice, Design studio practice, Visual communication including a range of computer technologies, discipline related production, construction, and technological systems, relevant codes and laws.
  • Discipline related theory that informs Interior Architecture design practice, for example, environmental psychology, design history, workplace design theory, design as research, User Experience, and emerging theories around AI and Virtual Realities.

You will bring to the role

  • A doctoral qualification in Interior Architecture or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated professional practice corresponding to AQF level 10 qualifications: substantial, award-winning practice, recognised by peers
  • Proven high level teaching skills including experience in supervision of Interior Architecture Honours projects; unit coordination and demonstrated capacity for content development of design studios; professional practice units, theory and research related to the Interior Architecture program
