Job description
The School of Forensic and Applies Sciences is making a considerable investment in the expansion of research in Policing, to respond to the national and international evidence-based policing agenda and to build on its enviable reputation in this field.
To that end the school is currently seeking an outstanding candidate for the role of Professor of Policing.
The professor will be appointed to undertake ground-breaking research, to provide high-level support to research-active colleagues within the policing team, to provide research-informed teaching, to engage with relevant external partners and to undertake a limited number of leadership, managerial as well as administrative duties commensurate with the seniority of the post. The professor will have a highly developed understanding of policing and will have a successful research track record within policing or a closely related field.
The successful candidate will bring to the post a track record in international research, knowledge transfer, postgraduate research supervision and research-informed teaching. Additionally the professor will by their example and leadership be capable of inspiring and supporting others in reaching the school's ambitious vision for policing at UCLan, as world class.
The appointee will be educated to PhD level (or equivalent) in policing or a related discipline, possess excellent research skills demonstrable by a publication record that is recognised internationally and an extensive history of consultancy / knowledge transfer within the discipline.
