UWA has consolidated its place among the top 1% of the world’s research-intensive universities by a careful stewardship of its comprehensive research endeavour. Additionally, the University has recently streamlined its organisational structure to facilitate convergent research and the successful New Century Campaign has strengthened the funding base of the university.
This is an exciting opportunity for an incoming Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) to seize a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only strengthen the position of one of the world’s best research-intensive universities, but to transition the University of Western Australia so that its research has a broad and an ever-increasing impact on the global challenges facing humanity.
The DVC Research will have an internationally excellent research reputation and a commitment to research-led education and research-based learning and be an inclusive leader who encourages ideas, initiative and innovation in others. Additionally they will possess the imagination to extend boundaries and envisage changes.
This executive leadership role will improve the quality, impact and productivity of research and research training at the University. The successful appointee will have a deep understanding of the higher education sector, the research funding environment as well as international trends relating to university research and innovation.
