The Whitney Lauder Curatorial Fellow works under the direction of the Chief Curator and the Director of Curatorial Affairs to conceive of and develop an exhibition, support the ICA docent program, and provide general support to the curatorial department. The Whitney Lauder Curatorial Fellow works closely with the Chief Curator to conceptualize and implement one exhibition. The Whitney Lauder Curatorial Fellow works closely with the Director of Curatorial Affairs to orchestrate the details of the exhibition; devising programs, monitoring budgets, coordinating artist travel, drafting honorarium letters, and working on a publication (including but not limited to writing a scholarly essay). The Whitney Lauder Curatorial Fellow works closely with the Curator to support the ICA docent program. The Whitney Lauder Curatorial Fellow provides general administrative and conceptual support to the curatorial department. The Whitney Lauder Curatorial Fellow is supervised by the Chief Curator.

The preferred candidate is a graduate of the Whitney Independent Study Program and has experience in an office administration role, excellent communication and writing skills, excellent attention to detail, experience managing and tracking expenses and a budget, experience with administrative office tasks & professional demeanor + diplomatic approach. Fluency with Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Keynote and ability to successfully interact with a wide variety of internal and external professionals required. Position also requires occasional evening and weekend work for meetings and events.
