UNSW Law includes more than 110 academics, many of whom are leaders in their areas of research interest. Our research is organised around a range of centres and disciplinary clusters. The Faculty’s research ranges from traditional doctrinal study to interdisciplinary, empirical and theoretical work. A common theme is the engagement with law outside the University, through policy and law reform and collaboration with practitioners of all kinds. UNSW Law is supported by 60 professional and technical staff who provide management and support in teaching, research, finance and student administration.

About the role

  • $72,880 - $82,467 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading
  • Full-time (35 hours per week)
  • Continuing role

Reporting into the Research Manager, the Administrator provides research and project support to ensure the delivery of key strategic and operational research goals for the Faculty. You will contribute to the maintenance of research relationships and supports the delivery of research policy and strategy.

You will work with other relevant University work areas including, Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor Research, Research Strategy Office, Grants Management Office and other Faculties as well as research bodies internal and external to the University.

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  • Contributing to Faculty research databases and analyse and report on the Faculty’s research performance, external funding success and other relevant metrics.
  • Working with the Research Manager to implement Faculty guidelines, processes and procedures that align the Faculty with the external policy environment to support the research activities of the Faculty.
  • Together with the Research Manager, develop and maintain effective and efficient systems and processes relating to the administration of Faculty internal grant, fellowship and research support schemes.
  • Supporting the Faculty and its researchers with the delivery of projects, submission of reports to external funding bodies, completions of grant applications, applications for internal grant schemes, and other initiatives and programs.

Specific requirements include:

  • A relevant degree with experience in administration or similar role or equivalent competence gained through another combination of education, training and experience.
  • An understanding of research context, administrative procedures of grants and applications, research policies and regulations, research budget, and internal funding schemes administration would be well regarded.
  • Strong organisational skills with proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills with the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders.
  • Self-directed and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
