Oversee Salary Management and payroll functions for the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics, CCEB and the Institute for Biomedical Informatics. The person in this position is responsible for ensuring that salaries for all faculty, staff, students and postdocs in the affiliated entities are appropriately distributed across grant and non-grant funds from departments and centers throughout the PSOM and the University. It is the responsibility of this individual to review current and future pay periods with PIs, faculty and departmental leadership to minimize the risk of underfunding or grant overdrafts associated with personnel costs. This includes identifying, defining and resolving potential compliance, funding and budget issues; managing the effort report process for over 350 individuals; providing direct oversight of two full-time employees, and serving as backup for all payroll functions.

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field and five or more years of experience in payroll and research programs in an academic department, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
In-depth knowledge of federal grants policy regarding compensation, effort reporting, and salary management is essential.
Excellent organizational and computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
Must have thorough understanding of University and PSOM processes and deadlines, including annual budget process, HR and payroll systems.
Meticulous attention to detail.
