Job description

Working within the Centre for Advanced Low Carbon Propulsion Systems (C-ALPS) you will focus on the applied research challenges associated with the integration of energy storage devices within automotive applications. You will join this newly created research centre with high levels of industry engagement. This role is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced individual to build a research group at the interface of academia and industry.

We are looking for an individual with technical expertise in electrical testing methods for automotive batteries technology to lead this research theme within C-ALPS, providing academic leadership. Furthermore, you will liaise with the Future Transport and Cities Institute, engaging with academics in other disciplines to work on interdisciplinary research bids and projects.

A key requirement of the role will be to actively seek and obtain funding the various funding councils to support the development of their research activities. A track record of negotiating and obtaining funding directly from industry is highly desirable.

You will have nationally or internationally recognised expertise and have extensive experience of working with industry on funded collaborative projects.Demonstrable impacts such as contributing to research community through standards, improving skills, helping develop businesses or advising on policy is highly desirable.  

You will need to share our passion for delivering a positive student experience that puts excellence in teaching and learning at the heart of everything we do and will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge in your area of specialisation to support the centre's research culture.
