About the position

A PhD research fellow position is available in the interface between organic, medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry. The PhD candidate will be a member of a research group with members from both Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering and Dept. of Chemistry at NTNU.

The position is financed by Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering and will involve the development of new kinase inhibitors conjugated to small proteins. The project will seek to develop new methods for pharmacodelivery by extending the field of antibody-drug-conjugate (ADC) technology by instead using small signaling proteins as the drug carrier.

Further information can be obtained from Associate Professor Eirik Sundby, NTNU, Tel. +47 735 9645, E-mail: Eirik.sundby@ntnu.no

Job description

The theme of the PhD research is efficient bioconjugation of kinase inhibitors to small proteins. We are seeking a person with experimental background in organic synthesis and with knowledge of medicinal chemistry and/or bioconjugation techniques.

The overall project goal is to deliver highly active kinase inhibitors conjugated to cytokines.

Qualification requirements

The PhD-position's main objective is to qualify for work in research positions. Other qualifications:

The applicant should have an MSc (or equivalent) in organic/medicinal chemistry and a  solid background from biochemistry, molecular biology or pharmacology. Experience with different methods for protein characterization or bioconjugation will be considered an advantage.

The position requires spoken and written fluency in the Scandinavian languages (Norwegian/Swedish/Danish) due to teaching responsibilities.

The appointment is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants and national guidelines for appointment as PhD, postdoctor and research assistant.
