Assistant Research Officer in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention (Ref.: 493811) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics or a related discipline. They should have experience in big data analytic tools (such as Spark and Hadoop) and integrating social media APIs; data visualization skills; knowledge of Tableau, ggplot, plotly and d3.js; as well as proficiency in R, Python, and SQL.  They should also have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese) as well as the ability to design, lead and execute analysis as well as communicate insights, ideas and conclusions effectively to team members across the organization, technical and non-technical alike.  Those with work experience in at least 2 of the following areas are preferred: natural language processing (NLP), deep learning, machine learning and statistics.  The appointee will work on the Centre’s research projects on applying big data strategies in preventing suicide and promoting well-being.
