SENIOR RESEARCH ANALYST, Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), to work closely with and support the research of a J-PAL-affiliated faculty member, largely in the area of data analysis. The work will involve close collaboration and assistance with all stages of empirical research in health economics. Responsibilities include providing direction and advice to new research analysts on data analysis tasks; working with data sets, cleaning and running checks to spot errors, and generally preparing data for analysis; leading literature reviews and questionnaire writing; drafting new and renewal institutional review board applications; communicating with research partners about data requests and analysis; collaborating in the preparation of academic papers being submitted to journals; preparing data for publication and publishing data; and performing other tasks assigned by the research manager. May provide direction to UROPs and research analysts on their data work, but will not provide direct supervision or complete performance reviews. Will report to a research manager.

The position would be ideal for someone with a long-term interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in economics.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:
bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred); four years of overall experience, preferably with at least two years of relevant economic experience that includes quantitative data analysis; strong quantitative and computer skills (including programming); and the ability to work independently. A background in economics would be a plus. Candidates with strong quantitative backgrounds who are looking for more exposure to economics are also welcome.
