About the Job

This role will focus on research to advance our understanding of learning and knowledge development in digital settings, including processes such as adaptive learning and personalised pathways, as well psychological attributes of successful learners, through the use of data science methodologies. In collaboration with staff in the School of Psychology, researchers in the Centre for Change and Complexity in Learning (C3L) and other related areas, this position will undertake research into student learning profiles, the impact of anticipated labour market automation on knowledge needs of individual’s society, and processes for re-skilling knowledge capabilities of currently employed learners.

The role will be part of a strong interdisciplinary team with expertise in computer science, learning sciences, learning analytics, education, psychology, and learning and will take the lead in applying for and securing funding to advance learning and teaching practices at UniSA.

Skills and Experience

A PhD qualification in cognitive science, psychology, learning sciences, machine learning, or similar (e.g. neuroscience / computational linguistics and excellent quantitative and computational skills with experience using Python, R, or MATLAB are essential for this position. The role requires someone with solid experience in analysing and reporting on student learning data and the ability to use technical skills to find solutions to unidentified problems as well as knowledge of learning and cognitive theories and their application for solving educational challenges.
