The Faculty of Health was established in 2017 to support Victoria University's vision of Improving Health and Wellbeing in our Communities. The new Bachelor of Health launched in 2018, with major subjects in Population Health, Policy and Service Delivery, Health Psychology, Health Informatics, Health Software Development and Health Promotion. The new Master of Health launches in 2019, and includes a new subject in Workplace Health and Safety.

We wish to appoint a Professor of Health and Safety as the inaugural WorkSafe New Zealand Chair in Health and Safety. This appointment provides a unique opportunity within the School of Health to provide strategic leadership in the development and delivery of workplace health and safety in the new health and wellbeing programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The appointee will contribute to Victoria's engagement with stakeholders, especially with government, and government related agencies including WorkSafe New Zealand, Health and Safety Association of New Zealand, District Health Boards and other partners relevant to our capital city location.

The ideal candidate for this position should be familiar with the International Network of Safety and Health Practitioner Organisations (INSHPO) Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Capability Framework and able to lead and contribute to a high quality academic programme aligned with this framework. They should be a world-class researcher who wishes to make a real difference, to create a high-achieving research group and to create innovative and attractive supporting degree programmes in collaboration with other researchers at Victoria and elsewhere.

Consideration may be given to making the Professor of Health and Safety a permanent role, subject to ongoing funding.
