Research Fellow


The Research Fellow will use Schlumberger PetroMod software to model key 2D sections within the Faroe-Shetland Basin around the Cambo, Rosebank and Judd Basin areas.  These models will address petroleum generation and timing, in addition to investigating potential petroleum accumulations based on a range of probable sub-surface scenarios investigating the effect of the thick igneous intrusive complex on migration pathways.

The West of Shetland Research Group has a strong and proactive approach in collaborating with the Oil and Gas industry and furthering knowledge of igneous-affected basins and therefore publishing of results in an academic journal (e.g. AAPG Bulletin, Petroleum Geoscience, Marine and Petroleum Geology) will be an expected result of the project. 
The candidate should possess a PhD in Earth Sciences/relevant subject, and should be experienced in petroleum geology from basin to prospect scale.

Previous industry experience, although not essential, will be looked on favourably in the applications.

The candidate should be experienced with the use of Petrel and PetroMod and other relevant industry software.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 salary scale (£33,797 - £35,844 per annum) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
