This position will be based in the Health Service & Population Research Department, King’s College London Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, within the Centre for Implementation Science Research Group. An excellent opportunity has arisen to become a Research Assistant for a new study.

The post-holder will work on the CaFI-2 project (Culturally-adapted Family Intervention study). CaFI-2 is a multi-site randomised controlled trial of a family intervention for African and Caribbean service users with a schizophrenia spectrum disorder and their families. People of African and/or Caribbean origin are the more likely to have schizophrenia or psychosis than other ethnic groups in the UK.

The Research Assistant will contribute towards the day-to-day operation of the London site under the guidance of Site Lead Dr Claire Henderson, with significant contact with Chief Investigator Dr Dawn Edge (Manchester) and Trial Manager (Manchester). The post-holder will be involved in refinement of therapy materials, participant recruitment, data collection, analysis and write-up.

The successful candidate will have a BSc in Psychology (or related); experience of participant recruitment; experience of working with service users and/or carers with long-term conditions; and ability to work well independently.

As the research focuses on improving African and Caribbean people’s mental health, relevant experience of working with/understanding these communities would be advantageous.
