Students are at the heart of everything we do, from industry engagement to curriculum design and research and knowledge exchange. As we progress within the Higher Education sector, our student focus will continue to be ‘up front and centre’. This is an exciting time for Hartpury, as from September 2018 we became both a university and a college on a single campus. This is an amazing milestone in the long history of our institution which now supports nearly 4,000 students.

Hartpury University is a specialist institution, with provision focusing on Animal, Agriculture, Equine, Sport and Veterinary Nursing, with over 2,000 students studying at levels 4 – 8.

The Dean of Teaching, Learning and Student Experience provides strategic vision and academic leadership and implements activities supporting our students’ academic experience. Reporting to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and working in collaboration with the Academic Registrar and Dean of Research and Knowledge Exchange, staff and academic departments, the post holder will support our endeavours to deliver a high quality, inclusive and consistent academic experience for all students, enhancing student engagement, academic outcomes and well-being.

Hartpury is based on a beautiful rural campus, offering a wonderful environment in which to work. The people here are passionate and driven, always striving to meet the needs of our industries and supporting our students in becoming the best they can become. We have a saying ‘relentless in pursuit of excellence’ which describes the culture well, and results in a real sense of people feeling ‘proud to belong’. Our expectations are high and we are looking for a proactive individual, who will see a project through from idea to implementation, leading from the front.

Through line management of the academic Heads of Department and Head of Teaching and Learning, you will ensure teaching excellence is at the heart of all of our endeavours. You will be an experienced academic manager with a track record of working with people to deliver enhancements to the academic student experience. A persuasive communicator with the ability to build relationships based on trust, you will be skilled at working through negotiation and influence.

The successful candidate will possess exemplary judgement, energy and resilience and share our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusivity.
