The Role

  • Continuing, Full Time
  • $100,476 to $119,121 pa (plus 17% superannuation)
  • Bathurst

We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated academic to join the Centre for Law and Justice to support the Centre with its First Nations initiatives. You will be joining an interdisciplinary group of dynamic and experienced academics comprising criminologists, lawyers, sociologists, philosophers and policing scholars.

The successful candidate will be appointed to a teaching and research work function and will undertake duties associated with teaching, research and administration. More specifically the position will undertake curriculum mapping, subject and course design work (for relevant Faculty and University committees), professional and First Nations content accreditation work (for the Legal Profession Admissions Board (LPAB) NSW and the Charles Sturt Indigenous Board of Studies), designing and teaching Indigenous content and design of assessment.

Consultation with community representatives and other professional groups, especially First Nations lawyers, criminal justice, and related professionals who contribute to our programs and who can be consulted for co-design of research programs will be expected.

The successful candidate will have access to the Universitys generous relocation support scheme to assist with relocating to Bathurst, NSW.

To be successful you will have:

  • To identify as a First Nations Australian
  • A masters or doctoral qualification (research thesis) in one of the target areas or evidence of qualification in progress or equivalent cultural knowledge, professional experience or expertise
  • Disciplinary expertise in Indigenous Australian studies, or education, or law, or criminology, or policing, or criminal justice related disciplines
  • Commitment to or evidence of the delivery of high-quality student centred learning and teaching
  • Capacity to undertake or a record of research or professional activity related to the discipline
  • High level communication skills with demonstrated ability to network and build partnerships across the university and with external organisations
