Working within the Department of Mechanical and Construction Engineering, you will provide expertise in an area of Civil Engineering to further enhance research, teaching and entrepreneurial activities. This will include designing, developing and delivering high-quality teaching activities, undertaking individual and joint research to produce high-quality academic outputs, and participating in external activity to generate income and promote the subject.

Civil Engineering has particular strengths in Extreme Environment Engineering, Heritage Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnics, and Transport infrastructure, with financial support from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), Natural Environment Research Council, The Royal Society, Innovate UK and the European Union.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with cross-disciplinary strengths in any of the following areas:

• Transport infrastructure in Civil Engineering
• Geotechnics
• Coastal engineering
• Remote sensing applications to Civil Engineering
• Civil Engineering for challenging environments
• Water supply, water storage and provision, hydraulics

However, we will consider high-quality applications in any relevant area.

You must hold a first degree and be qualified to Doctoral level in a relevant discipline and have subject expertise in Civil Engineering with specialist knowledge gained through research activity, professional practice or consultancy. Proven ability to deliver high-quality research-led teaching within an appropriate field and in particular a strong publication profile are essential.
