Job Description

The Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions at the National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The appointment is for an initial period of one year with possibility of renewal.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

• Develop and lead policy-relevant, multidisciplinary, and impactful research on nature-based solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation in natural and/or urban environments, integrating remote sensing and field data
• Collaborate with other Centre researchers as an effective team member
• Mentor the Centre’s graduate and undergraduate students
• Prepare research manuscripts and reports

Qualifications

Qualifications / Discipline:

• PhD in natural science, climate science, human geography, or related field. PhD from a reputable university (or have the PhD conferred by the time the appointment commences)

Skills:

• Capability to handle large-scale geospatial data, and conduct geospatial analysis and modelling
• Proficiency in statistics, geospatial and/or ecological modelling, and/or other quantitative skills
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
• Highly self-motivated, excellent communicator, and a team player
• Willing to work flexible hours and to take on extra duties as required
• Ability to work independentl

Experience:  

• Research experience in a related field of natural science, climate science, human geography, or related field, and a record of impactful research publications.
• Expertise in remote sensing (e.g., optical, LiDAR, SAR)
• Experience with implementing machine/deep learning, and/or artificial intelligence projects (preferred)
• At least 5 publications in a peer reviewed journal (preferred)
