The teaching team within the School of Nursing and Midwifery is led by award winning academics who are experts in their fields. Our academics are committed to teaching and learning strategies which develop nursing knowledge and the skills required to function as effective practitioners across a diversity of clinical settings. The diversity of clinical settings arises from the close collaboration with local area health services, private hospitals, custodial health agencies; non-government organisations; community services; as examples.

The Lecturer in Nursing will contribute towards three domains of academic work within the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SNM): Research and Innovation; Teaching and Learning and Service and Engagement, in line with the University of Newcastle Looking Ahead Strategic Plan 2020-2025.

The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching and assessment of pre-registration nursing students (Bachelor of Nursing) and post graduate teaching with an emphasis on older people, while contributing to the quality improvement cycle of the curricula and participating in research and administrative duties appropriate to the appointment level. The applicant will also contribute to growing the professional profile of the nursing discipline at the University at a local, national and international level. This position will be based at Callaghan with strong links to academics and industry partners at the other SNM teaching campus at Central Coast in addition to connections with the University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health. There are also numerous opportunities for collaboration with research programs conducted through the University, the Hunter Medical Research institute (HMRI) and the Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute (CCCSRI). The successful applicant will be expected to contribute high-quality research outcomes to the overall broad theme of nursing practice articulated by the field of research code: Nursing (4205) through collaborations within the discipline and multidisciplinary teams at both a national and international level.

A doctoral qualification in Nursing or health related field is essential along with current registration, as a nurse, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with no restrictions, notations or conditions.

The remuneration for this role is $103,221- $122,576, plus 17% superannuation
