Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Microbiology (Ref.: 509250), to commence as soon as possible for two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree or an equivalent qualification in Microbiology, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline, with previous training and/or work experience in performing bioinformatics analysis of microbial genomes. They should be familiar with Linux system and shell scripts, including troubleshooting software installation, deployment and execution. Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python or R language is required. Preference will be given to those with strong expertise in biostatistics, structural biology, genome biology, and next-generation sequencing analysis. Applicants should have a good command of written and spoken English, strong communication skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to work independently. They should also be self-motivated, organized, detail-minded and hardworking. The appointee will be involved in research projects related to emerging viruses, such as coronaviruses, influenza viruses, enteroviruses, and arboviruses under the supervision of Dr. Jasper F.W. Chan and Dr. Shuofeng Yuan.
