Deputy Director of the Kurt-Schwabe-Institut für Mess- und Sensortechnik Meinsberg e.V.

to be filled by October 1, 2022.

The research focus of Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering encompasses the whole field of electrical engineering and information technology with a special focus on: Automation, Measure ment and Control, Electrical Power Engineering, Electromechanical and Biomedical Systems, Information Electronics, Communications Engineering as well as Micro-Opto-Nano Electronics. All research areas have in common that building elements, components and networks must be considered together with the users of the technology, the people, as a unified system; true to the faculty's motto "thinking in systems".

The Kurt-Schwabe-Institut für Mess- und Sensortechnik Meinsberg e.V. (KSI Meinsberg) is a non-profit institute of the Free State of Saxony with state-of-the-art equipment for conducting basic and application-oriented innovative research in the fields of physical, chemical, electrochemical and biological-physical sensor technology as well as the related development of novel sensor materials, technical advancement for the construction of operational sensors and scientific instrumentation. The institute is committed to the training of young scientists in the above-mentioned fields. To fulfill these tasks, KSI Meinsberg cooperates with the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

You (m/f/x) will be the scientific deputy head of KSI Meinsberg. Possible topics of future research activities are primarily seen in the coupling of sensor systems, information technologies and artificial intelligence to study digital, intelligent and adaptive sensor systems and sensor networks with applications in agriculture, environmental monitoring, and medical diagnostics. The focus is on the sustainable development of miniaturized and autonomously working sensors and sensor systems for continuous use on-site with intelligent data analysis and data transfer systems as well as sophisticated energy management. The teaching obligation at TU Dresden is two semester hours per week. Your willingness and ability to hold courses in English as well as participation in academic self-administration is expected.

We are looking for an internationally renowned personality with management experience who has successfully acquired research contracts from industry and the public sector. We expect, that you will actively support the scientific, economic and personnel development of KSI Meinsberg with its regional and supra-regional importance towards an internationally visible sensor technology center as well as joint research projects and the promotion of young scientists.

You will be hired by KSI Meinsberg and will be employed on the basis of a private law employment contract with a remuneration corresponding to salary group W2, salary scale W according to § 34 Saxon Civil Service Pay Scale Act at KSI Meinsberg and will assume scientific management tasks at KSI Meinsberg. At the same time, you will be appointed to the Chair of System Integration and Scientific Instrumentation at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering at TU Dresden. The appointment is based on the Thüringer Modell according to § 62 para. 2 SächsHSFG; no civil service or employment relationship is established with the TU Dresden. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).
