Seeking a high-calibre experienced Economist to join The School of Economics and Public Policy, working within The South Australian Centre for Economic Studies.

The South Australian Centre for Economic Studies (SACES) is a self-funding applied research unit of The University of Adelaide. SACES was established in 1982 with a principal role to review, research and report on economic and public policy issues of relevance to South Australia and Australia as a whole. The Centre aims to increase the quality of analysis and debate regarding issues within the State, and to establish itself as a pre-eminent economic research centre in Australia.

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Researcher who is an economist with significant experience in consulting, project management, large scale surveying and data analysis. The successful applicant is expected to have high-level qualitative and/or quantitative research and analytical skills and provide commentary and advice on contemporary economic, social and public policy issues. The successful candidate will contribute to securing external research and consulting funding and will also assist with project planning and coordinating input from a range of sources; and with the production of research proposals, project reports and presentations.

To be successful you will need:

  • A PhD in economics or a related discipline, or demonstrable equivalence derived from work experience.
  • Experience in management, planning and coordination of economics or public policy research projects on behalf of clients.
  • Experience in managing high level stakeholder relationships in government, in the private sector and in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Significant experience in undertaking economic analysis, including complex data analysis.
  • Ability to liaise with clients in the delivery and conduct of research projects.
