  • $70,751 to $95,568 (Level A) per annum or $100,535 to $119,151 (Level B) per annum

About the project:

This project aims to gain a greater understanding of habitat manipulation to improve pollination service delivery and pollinator health in agricultural environments. The project is a collaboration with multiple investment partners including Horticulture Innovation Australia. This particular component of the project will be based at the University of New England (UNE), Armidale, or other key locations within NSW. The position will involve extensive travel within NSW and interstate for field work.

About the role:

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will develop novel research questions and conduct research in the field of crop pollination by wild and managed insects. He or she will be expected to disseminate research results to industry and the broader scientific community and publish research results in international peer reviewed journals. This role requires extensive travel for field work in a range of field crops across the north, inland and eastern parts of Australia, often in remote areas. A current drivers licence is required.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • a PhD at or near completion in ecology, entomology, zoology or related area
  • experience in the design and implementation of pollination-related field or laboratory studies involving floral or non-floral resources, honeybees or other insects on farms
  • The capacity to conduct field research around Australia and a willingness and interest to work alongside industry partners. 
  • Excellent written and oral scientific communication skills
  • Well-developed statistical skills (e.g. R software).
