Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor (holding the title of Project Manager (Capacity Building and Innovation)) in the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 509012), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, Gerontology, Nursing, Counseling, Behavioral Health, Mental Health, or related disciplines, preferably with clinical experiences in end-of-life care (EoLC) or gerontology care. Relevant post-doctoral work experience and an excellent track record of publications will be essential. Applicants should also demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and the ability to contribute to the innovative curriculum development of courses for professionals which might be converted to components of postgraduate programmes in future.

The appointee will work in the Jockey Club End-of-Life Community Care Project (JCECC) under the Faculty of Social Sciences. The Project, started in 2016, aimed at developing and evaluating an innovative community end-of-life care model which ultimately improves the quality of life of patients and families touched by terminal illness. The appointee will supervise a team of post-doctoral fellows and research staff to work together on cutting-edge research in end-of-life care. This position will immerse the appointee in both academic research and teaching in the multi-disciplinary EoLC team, thus pave the path towards interdisciplinary academic position in future.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At the current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
