About the position

This position is within the Office of the Provost Portfolio, reporting to the Outreach Advisor as part of Educational Partnerships, within the Widening Participation team.

Widening Participation consists of:

  • Educational Partnerships;
  • Enabling Programs;
  • In2Science, and
  • AW Pathways and Bradford programs

Duties will include:

  • Work with secondary schools, VET providers, and community groups in the development and delivery of outreach activities that meet the strategic objectives of the University.
  • Provide academic and broader support to students in a ‘high challenge, high achievement’ context, including students who are undertaking university-approved curriculum while at school. 
  • Undertake research, monitor and analyse data, and identify opportunities to improve educational outcomes, student participation, programs of work and stakeholder involvement.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and collaborative partnerships with relevant academic staff, Marketing and Recruitment, education and training providers, and school partners.
  • Act as the local ‘expert’ on scholarships and alternative entry pathways so as to provide relevant information to local enquirers;

To be successful, you will have:

  • A formal school or tertiary teaching qualification, e.g. B.Ed, M.Ed, or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement and refine innovative activities that raise achievement, awareness, and higher education aspirations, particularly for under-represented students.
  • High level interpersonal skills, especially the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively across partner schools and the University.
  • Demonstrated experience in program/event management and development, and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Essential Compliance Requirements

To hold this La Trobe University position the occupant must:

  • In order to work onsite in Higher Education, TAFE, training and adult education settings, the Victorian Government requires workers to provide evidence to their employers that they are fully vaccinated with two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine or have a medical exemption evidenced by an authorised medical practitioner.  This position will require the incumbent to work onsite; AND
  • Take personal accountability to comply with all University policies, procedures and legislative or regulatory obligations; including but not limited to TEQSA and the Higher Education Threshold Standards.
