(Level A) $71,401 to $96,007 per annum or (Level B) $100,933 to $119,391 per annum plus an employer contribution of up to 17% superannuation may apply

Fixed term, full time position available for a 12 month period (part-time may be considered), with the possibility of extension.

We are seeking a research associate to work on research and government funded research projects focused on children, young people and families, primarily in the areas of child protection and youth justice.

This is a cross-disciplinary position working on projects across two schools, the School of Psychology and the School of Public Health.  The successful candidate will be a part of the BetterStart Health and Development Research Group and will be required to prepare analysis-ready linked datasets from multiple health and human services data sources and apply epidemiological methods to analyse linked data for the research projects.

To be successful at Level A you will need: 

• An honours degree or higher qualifications or equivalent research experience.
• Evidence of contribution towards research relevant to health or human services.
• Experience in the management and analysis of health and social data and reporting of analyses.
• Experience in the use of statistical packages such as; Stata, R, SPSS and/or SAS.
• Experience in the assessment of data quality and conducting systematic reviews.

To be successful at Level B you will need: 

• All of the above in addition to; completion of a PhD in the relevant discipline or have equivalent qualifications or research experience.
• Experience in the management and analysis of large datasets, including experience using the statistical packages, Stata, R, SPSS and/or SAS.
• Demonstrated experience to conduct independent high-quality research, including leading research, where applicable.
• Demonstrated experience to conduct systematic reviews of literature and experience using gold-standard Cochrane Risk of Bias tools.
• Strong track record of high-quality publications, reports or conference presentations relative to opportunity.
