Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer/Assistant Professor (above the bar) in Horticulture. This is a full-time, 5-year academic post in the UCD School of Agriculture & Food Science (https://www.ucd.ie/agfood/), within its Environment and Sustainable Resource Management Section.

The appointee will join a team of 17 full-time academics within the Section who offer a diverse portfolio of programmes, including three BAgrSc programmes in Agri-environmental Sciences, Forestry, and Horticulture, and taught Master's programmes in Horticulture, and Environmental Resource Management.

The appointee will spend one trimester (up to 16 weeks) per academic year teaching, delivering modules, assessing students and engaging with local staff at South China Agricultural University (SCAU) in Guangzhou, China, as a member of a team delivering several degree programmes in UCD's Guangzhou Dublin International College of Life Science and Technology (GDIC).

The appointee may also teach at UCD's Belfield campus. Undergraduate teaching will be in the areas of horticulture and applied plant science.

The appointee will also develop their own research programme that will be largely based in Ireland but may include activities overseas (including China). We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who has demonstrated aptitude, commitment and passion for teaching, with research expertise in a relevant area. Candidates must have a PhD in an appropriate discipline, teaching experience, a demonstrated capacity to carry out research, and excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.

The candidate should complement and engage actively with current academic staff in the Section, School and wider UCD community, and make a significant contribution to teaching, research and university life.

Lecturer/Asst Professor Above the Bar Salary Scale: €55,397 - € 87,724 per annum

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
