Overview

Edith Cowan University (ECU) is a large, multi-campus institution serving communities nationally and internationally. The University currently has two metropolitan campuses at Mount Lawley and Joondalup, and also serves Western Australia’s South West Region from a campus in Bunbury, 200km south of Perth. The ECU School of Education is one of the largest Schools of Education in Australia with over 5,000 students. The School offers a broad range of programs including Early Childhood Studies, Primary, Secondary and Postgraduate Education.

The School is seeking to appoint an ongoing Associate Professor in Education Leadership who, for an initial term of three years, who will lead the School’s Postgraduate Studies as the Associate Dean.

The Role

The Associate Dean (Postgraduate Studies) is a member of the School’s executive team managing a discipline cluster within the School and the associated staff. This role reports to the Executive Dean and has responsibility for the delivery and innovation of high-quality postgraduate programs as well as working closely with relevant staff.

Fostering a collaborative, professional and inclusive School culture, this role will work closely with the School’s leadership team to focus on enhancing ECU’s national and international Postgraduate Studies profile.

The Person

The ideal candidate will be an Associate Professor (Level D) with expertise in Education Leadership who has a demonstrated record of outstanding academic leadership within a university or tertiary education institution. In addition, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • A strong background in building strategic relationships
  • A creative approach, demonstrating innovation and innovative practice
  • Sound risk management and strategic thinking.

Benefits & Remuneration

This full-time, ongoing position of Associate Professor attracts a remuneration of $149,267 - $164, 111 pa (LEVEL D). The fixed-term Associate Dean appointment (initial term of three years) will attract additional remuneration as outlined in the University’s Academic Leadership Roles policy. In addition, ECU pays 17% University superannuation contribution.
