About the Role

This position is primarily focussed on the preparation and delivery of teaching and associated administrative duties within the Academic Unit’s undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs. The Lecturer in Occupational Therapy utilises contemporary professional/discipline-related knowledge in their teaching practice and carries out activities to develop scholarly expertise.

Two fixed term contracts available, 1 x 12 month and 1 x 24 month both commencing January 2022.

About UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance

The UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance Academic Unit offers a wide range of degrees and conducts research in the fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, medical radiation sciences, medical sonography, speech pathology, clinical exercise physiology, exercise and nutrition, health sciences, public health, exercise and sport science, and human movement.

UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance Academic shape community wellbeing by educating future health professionals, producing graduates who contribute to the future health workforce. Delivering solutions-based research that addresses global health needs, working with industry and the community to solve critical health challenges.

Core Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of courses and work with the team in the development of program change and innovation
  • Investigate and develop alternative teaching methods and the initiation and development of new material
  • Provide academic counselling and high quality service and advice to students
  • Work collaboratively with staff and stakeholders to ensure course content and quality reflects contemporary professional practice
  • Contribute to Academic Unit and University activities, particularly in relation to planning and administration

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy together with relevant clinical experience and registration or eligibility for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of South Australia
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in contemporary Occupational Therapy
  • Experience with a range of technologies and administration appropriate for a contemporary university environment
  • Ability to undertake a range of teaching duties including the preparation of appropriate teaching materials and resources
  • High standard of interpersonal ability, written and oral communication skills
