Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Public Health Laboratory Sciences (PHLS) of School of Public Health (Ref.: 508626), to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in virology and molecular biology. Experience in handling biosafety level 3 agents is essential. Preference will be given to those with solid research experience in virology and/or molecular biology, and a strong track record of publications. The appointee will work on research projects related to influenza virus and/or other emerging infectious diseases. He/She will assist in grant applications, research planning and implementation; develop his/her own research programme; write reports and academic papers; supervise junior research staff and postgraduate students; and undertake teaching duties.  Enquiries about the duties of the post should be sent to Professor Leo Poon at llmpoon@hku.hk.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
