Job Description

The Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions at the National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for the post of Research Fellow under the NRF-RSSS funding. The position is for an initial period of one year with possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will work with Prof Koh Lian Pin.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

  • Develop policy-relevant, multidisciplinary and impactful research projects utilizing remote sensing data, in consultation with the Centre Director (primary supervisor)
  • Mentor the Centre’s graduate and undergraduate students working on similar projects or other projects
  • Prepare research manuscripts and reports

Qualifications

Qualifications / Discipline:

  • PhD in natural science, climate science, human geography or related field. PhD from a reputable university (or have the PhD conferred by the time the appointment commences)

Skills:

  • Capability to handle large-scale geospatial data and conduct spatial analysis
  • Proficiency in statistics, ecological modelling and/or other quantitative skills
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Highly self-motivated, excellent communicator and a team player
  • Willing to work flexible hours and to take on extra duties as required
  • Ability to work independently

Experience:  

  • Research experience in a related field of natural science, climate science, human geography or related field, and a record of (or potential to deliver) impactful research publications.
  • Expertise in remote sensing (e.g., optical, LiDAR, SAR)
  • At least 5 publications in a peer reviewed journal (preferred)
