School of Humanities and Social Inquiry / Discipline of Philosophy

  • Fixed Term, full-time appointment (3 years)
  • Level B: $100,306 - $115,840 + 17% superannuation 

The University of Wollongong’s School of Humanities and Social Inquiry (HSI) is seeking to appoint a full-time Lecturer in Philosophy for a 3-year position beginning in January 2022. HSI consists of a collection of Disciplines, including Philosophy, History, Sociology, Politics, Indigenous Studies, Cultural Studies, and Languages and Linguistics. The School is home to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of International Studies, and the Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics degrees. The Discipline of Philosophy has strengths in philosophy of science, philosophy of cognition, and bioethics.

The position will contribute to teaching, research, and graduate supervision. Candidates must have strong record of research and be committed to high quality teaching. The area of specialisation must include applied ethics, with an ability to teach undergraduate subjects in environmental philosophy and global ethics. Candidates should also be able to teach in either existentialism or philosophy of mind. The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Philosophy by the closing date for applications.
