The company

An exciting opportunity for network / telecom engineering graduate to work with Kube Networks Ltd. and UWS has become available on a full-time 24-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP). The aim of the project is to embed artificial Intelligence and advanced data analytics and networks knowledge to enhance network resilience, add value to customer service offerings and improve business performance and scale up potential.

Because we own and operate our own Next Generation Network (NGN), we can guarantee that our infrastructure is flexible, secure, and resilient enough to meet business requirements all fully supported through our ISO, ITiL and Cyber Essentials accreditations.

The business has recently expanded into provision of a full infrastructure managed service offering (supporting clients' broader ICT needs as well as core telecoms infrastructure and networking services). Proactively monitoring a client’s infrastructure 24/7, services include: LAN Management design & Implementation, on-prem and Cloud telephony and remote management of end points. KubeNet are currently expanding & developing their product offering to include support of a business's wider IT Systems and infrastructure to strike the right balance between supporting business as usual and delivering innovative new services. KubeNet, as an outsourced infrastructure team, will take responsibility for proactively monitoring infrastructure, including LAN management, network & AP devices, Telephony Hybrid & Cloud, Microsoft Teams Direct Routing, deployment & support, Internet Connectivity, patching and managing servers, storage, and network devices, ensuring they remain highly available and healthy. This includes support for remote data centres, along with private and public cloud resources like Azure & Office 365. KubeNet will also take responsibility for supporting third-party applications and work with application vendors allowing companies to optimize applications and infrastructure, reduce costs and ensure a high level of service for end users.

The successful candidate will be employed by the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) but will be based at KubeNet’s Head Offices. The associate will be fully supported by both company staff and staff from the School of Business and Creative Industries at the University. In addition, the associate will receive mentoring support from a local KTP Advisor and will have access to staff from UWS KTP Centre, providing further support and guidance during your period as a KTP Associate and providing access to an extensive network of KTP projects throughout the UK.

The role

The project is central to KubeNet's ambitious growth plans and transition from a small regional telecoms (network and technology) business to a Carrier-Grade network provider capable of delivering value-added managed services across their own high performance "intelligent" network, be that current 1/10GB or 100GB and Dark Fibre networks of the future.

Associate will embed intelligence within the KubeNet and enhance network resilience and establish a platform for accelerated growth (scalability). The project will also underpin growth of KubeNet's managed services offering; providing a one-stop-shop for clients and building genuine competitive advantage in terms of network performance, real-time client reporting and new value-added managed services whilst continuing to leverage the personal service client experience on which the business has built its reputation. Crucially, the project will also provide KubeNet with the tools, knowledge, and expertise to move up the value chain and deliver increasingly high-profile projects for corporates and public sector clients; significantly enhancing business profitability.

What we are looking for

Qualifications:

  • Minimum BSc/MSc/MEng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering or related areas.

Experience:

  • Track record in computer network and related services maintenance and operations and proven track record in cloud solutions and CISCO business clients such as VPN and MS system such as MS Azure.
  • Experience with the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence software libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras and alike) with proven track record in developing and implementing feature extraction and feature detection algorithms.
  • Experience of data stream visualization and system automation and user interface such as customer view / dashboard.
  • Experience in technical writing and preparation of reports and documentation.
