Job Description

Applications are invited for the following full-time position in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health:

Research Fellow (Bioinformatics)

A postdoctoral position is available in the Sessions lab in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health at The National University of Singapore. Our laboratory focuses on identifying the molecular mechanisms of viral pathogenesis and host responses to infection (Huber et al, Nat Commun 2019; Ho et al, Lancet Infect Dis 2017; Goh et al, Sci Rep 2016; Sessions et al, PLoS NTD 2015; Manokaran et al, Science 2015; Sessions et al, PLoS NTD 2013; Sessions et al, Nature 2009). We are seeking highly motivated candidates with experience in computational biology to work on a recently funded NRF-CRP grant to define how baseline virus-specific T cells impact B cell development to a heterologous antigen. The National University of Singapore is consistently ranked as the top university in Asia and among the highest ranked institutions globally.

Job Description

This position is for a full time Research Fellow who will perform bioinformatic analyses on samples collected in a clinical trial designed to examine the immune response to two well-characterised flaviviral vaccines. Successful computationally focused postdocs will be able to work with diverse "-omics" datasets and will primarily utilise command line tools and standard programming languages (e.g., Python, Perl, R) to assess multiple factors including B-cell and T-cell affinity maturation, HLA identification and virus evolution. Additional responsibilities will include careful record keeping, computer administration, preparation of reports and custom script generation when necessary. The candidates will also have opportunities to develop highly impactful projects based on their research interests.

Salary and benefits will be commensurable to educational qualifications and working experience. We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
