Applications are invited for a Research Technician to join the Bone and Joint Research Group in the Centre for Human Development, Stem Cells and Regeneration, School of Human Development and Health.  This technician post is part of a UK Regenerative Medicine Platform programme. The specific role of the person appointed will be to support ongoing work in vitro, ex vivo and preclinical models for the development and translational potential of bone stem cell-material approaches for skeletal repair.

The post-holder will be part of a team of interdisciplinary Research Fellows, Technicians and Postgraduate Students and will gain skills in skeletal cell biology, preclinical models and regenerative medicine. The post-holders responsibilities will involve human bone cell culture, cell culture on the biomaterial scaffolds, biochemical assays, histology, immunohistochemistry,  imaging (including micro Computed Tomography) and preclinical animal models. Practical laboratory skills are essential for this role, including prior experience of mammalian cell culture, routine histology and preclinical model expertise or ability to develop such skills. The post-holder will also contribute to the day-to-day running of the laboratory by carrying out activities such as ordering, preparing/updating risk assessments and standard operating procedures, and training students and new research staff, as required.
