About the role

This position will contribute to the development of teaching, research and engagement in urban forestry, arboriculture and urban horticulture. You will be a highly qualified and motivated individual with relevant expertise, capable of growing the emerging research and teaching opportunities in this area. This includes undertaking individual research, supervising research students and teaching into the School's undergraduate and graduate programs, especially at the Burnley Campus. You will also be required to coordinate the Graduate Certificate in Arboriculture, a post-graduate coursework program delivered from the Burnley Campus.

About you

Minimum Qualifications Required:

A PhD in Horticulture, Plant Science, Forest Science, Plant Ecology, Botany, Environmental Science or an equivalent related discipline.

Skills and Experience required to fulfil the position:

A demonstrated capacity to conduct research in relation to urban trees that encompasses current issues such as climate change, urban heat, water use, species selection, management of pests and disease or similar, resulting in grants and publications in refereed journals or other scholarly outputs;

A demonstrated aptitude for teaching in the areas of urban forestry, arboriculture, urban horticulture or urban green space management;

A demonstrated capacity to engage and collaborate with both academic and industry partners;

A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and to contribute to the organisational development of the School, Faculty and University;

A demonstrated ability to interact with research users and stakeholders in government, industry and professions involved in urban trees, arboriculture and urban horticulture more generally;

Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and oral and written communications in English.
