At TU Dresden, the Center for Information Services and High Performance Computing (ZIH) is offering a position, subject to the availability of ressources, within the research project "DaFne – Platform Data Fusion Generator for Artificial Intelligence" as

Research Associate

(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting as soon as possible until September 30, 2023. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). In the DaFne project, methods for generating synthetic training data for artificial intelligence (AI) in the area of smart cities and mobility data are being developed and made available to the public. Synthetic training data serve data protection and enable the use of AI for future scenarios for which no or insufficient data sets are yet available. Tasks:

  • scientific research and development work in the area of quality assessment of synthetic training data generation methods
  • evaluation and extension of published quality criteria considering the specific use-case in the area of smart cities and mobility data
  • development of visualization methods in relation to quality of synthetic data
  • integration of the quality assessment in an end user platform
  • cooperation with the national German competence center for Big Data and Artificial Intelligence ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig
  • publication of results and presentation at scientific conferences

Requirements:

  • university degree in mathematics, computer science or a comparable engineering or natural science
  • very good knowledge and experience in the fields of statistics and data science
  • knowledge in the areas artificial intelligence, machine learning or data analytics
  • a high degree of independence, commitment, flexibility and team spirit
  • very good English communication skills
  • Experience with HPC systems, cloud computing, visualization tools and data management methods is also desirable
